Mumbai's top cop Rakesh Maria's son Kunal marries New York-based Deeksha Kumar

Maharashtra's top cop Rakesh Maria was missing in action last week. He was away in Jodhpur, where he hosted the wedding of his older son, Kunal, with Deeksha Kumar on November 20.

The celebrations lasted three days, starting with a sangeet on November 19. Singer Mika performed at the function and before anyone conjures images of Maria shaking a leg, there were no choreographed dances for the cop.

The venues for the festivities were leading luxury tourist fort hotels in the city. Of the guests, the biggest attraction was Sachin Tendulkar, who dropped by with his wife Anjali and sent the other guests into a selfie frenzy.

Those who attended the wedding said that it was a low-key and private affair, with 180-200 guests. A reception will be hosted in Mumbai this evening, which is expected to be more high-profile.

Kunal and his wife are both based in New York. The groom is a graduate of Government Law College in India and Georgetown University Law Center in the US. As per his LinkedIn profile, he specialised in "intellectual property, sports & entertainment law and Indian law".
