Mumbai beats Delhi, becomes the most health-conscious city in India
A recent report titled, 'India fitQ' 2016,' that surveyed over 50,000 respondents finds Mumbai leading the fitness race in India. The city is the most health-conscious metro in the country, beating Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai to the top spot.

On an average a respondent from Mumbai takes around 7,033 steps dai ly. Bengaluru is a close second (6,940), followed by Delhi (6,918). The number falls short of the ideal 10,000 steps a day mark across cities though.

An important find has been that individuals don't seem to think that a single minded focus on exercise is enough to be fit. The study shows that while most office goers' top health goal is to get active and fit (97 per cent respondents ticked the box), other goals include — reducing stress (93 per cent), improving sleep quality (86 per cent) and controlling illness (61 per cent).

-Workout preferences

Various forms of physical activities are gaining ground and each city has its own preference.

For instance, people in Mumbai lead the pack in lifting weights and dance. Delhi and Bengaluru like walking. But where the capital city picks sports, the IT city chooses yoga.

-Food habits

Mumbai scores the highest on good food habits in the country. The city consumes salads and fruits the most and drinks the maximum water. According to the study, despite the beef ban, Mumbai still manages to consume the most amount of meat in the country too.

-Sleepless in cities

Across metros, respondents logged around seven hours of sleep daily. The difference across cities is quite miniscule — Mumbai sleeps the least (6.97 hours) and Delhi, the most (7.08 hours) with a difference of few minutes. In quantum terms, most cities are on track. It's difficult to comment decisively on the quality though.
