The budget wireless headphone market has seen a major boom in the past two years. While this has given a lot more options for consumers, it has also led to a lack of innovation in the segment. Most budget headphones are similar in design and performance now with just a different brand name. One of the new entrants in this space, Mulo has launched Wonderloop 500 – a budget headphone with a unique vibrating alert function.

We have seen the vibrating alert system in premium headphones before such as the Jabra Elite 65e. However, this is the first time we have got the feature on a budget headphone and that too at an entry-level price. Mulo has integrated a vibration motor on the right side of the neckband and every time you get a call, you get notified on the headphone with a vibration alert. This work out great for when you are on the move, in a noisy environment where you cant hear your phone ring or if you frequently miss calls because your phone is kept on silent mode.

Gorgeous visuals are only the beginning with UltraSharp 38 Curved Monitor (U3818DW). Its 95.2 cm curved screen paired with virtually borderless InfinityEdge delivers a panoramic viewing experience. While it has consistent colour across the wide viewing angle, the monitor has a flicker-free screen and filters harmful blue light emissions to optimise eye comfort.

We liked that the headphone is lightweight and sleek in design. On the right side of the neckband is the micro USB connector port and control buttons. The earbud uses a tangle-free flat cable which is a plus point and we found the cable length to be apt during usage as well as when you are not using the headphones and they are just hanging around your neck. Mulo has used magnets on the rear side of the earbuds to ensure they are locked around your neck and do not fall off. Both the earbuds are angled at 45-degrees for a comfort fit – the in-ear design makes sure that they don’t fall off when used during exercise plus they are IPX7 certified for water resistance.

Sound quality from the Mulo Wonderloop 500 is surprisingly good. You get thumping bass and the headphones manage to handle high frequency also well for their asking price. The design of the earbuds also provides a fair amount of noise isolation – if you are listening to music on anywhere above 70% volume level, you won’t hear any ambient noise. We were impressed by the vocal clarity as well and there was no audio-video sync issue with streaming services. To our surprise, even the microphone worked very well – most budget headphones suffer from the issue of a poor microphone but the Mulo Wonderloop worked great for voice calls.

A full charge gave us just under 8 hours of battery life which is great in our opinion. It also has Bluetooth 5.0 which ensures a stable connection and a lag-free experience. Overall, the Mulo Wonderloop 500 proves to be excellent value for money for its audio quality, battery life and gives you a handy vibration alert function as well.
