The Harvard graduate is all set to tie the knot with Reliance heiress Isha Ambani in Mumbai.

He's one half of India's biggest wedding of the year. Anand Piramal, son of Ajay and Swati Piramal, has become a frequently-Googled name ever since his engagement to Reliance heiress Isha Ambani earlier in September. And while he has not always been in the spotlight, his resume is a mighty impressive one.
A graduate in economics from the Pennsylvania University, he came back to India in 2011, armed with a Masters from Harvard. He set up his own shop with Piramal eSwasthya, a rural healthcare startup, which later merged with the family business to become Piramal Swasthya that treats over 40,000 patients a day. With over 4500 employees, the healthcare initiative is now a Harvard Business School case study. Piramal himself calls it a "social enterprise rather than a business that contributes to the profit of the group."
Health has not been the only area of focus for Piramal Jr. In 2012, he formed Piramal Realty that bagged $434 mn from Goldman Sachs and Warburg Pincus, making it one of the largest private equity investments in real estate in India ever.
But the Executive Director of the Piramal Group, too, had his mid-20s career dilemma. And it was advice from his then-family friend Mukesh Ambani — also Asia's richest businessman — that helped 25-year-old Piramal carve his path. When Piramal had to pick between consulting and banking, the RIL Chairman told him, "Being a consultant is like watching cricket or commentating about cricket, while being an entrepreneur is like playing cricket. You can’t learn how to play cricket by commentating. If you want to do something, be an entrepreneur in the long term and start now.”
And now, 8 years later, Piramal found his match in Ambani's daughter Isha - a Yale and Stanford alumna, who he went down on one knee to propose to in Mahabaleshwar, earlier this year. And now, after hosting what was possibly one of the most extravagant wedding parties in the country, the couple will say 'I do' at the Ambani home, Antilia, on Friday.
After the wedding, the couple will call the 50,000 sq ft sea-facing bungalow, Gulita, home. It is a wedding gift from Ajay and Swati Piramal - who bought the Worli Sea Face bungalow six years ago from Hindustan Unilever Ltd for Rs 452.5 crore.
