MTV Video Music Awards 2022: Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow lead nominations with 7 nods, BTS bag 4

Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X are the top contenders this year at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards with seven nominations each. The entertainment channel MTV on Tuesday announced the nominees for this year's awards.
Right behind the top nominees are Doja Cat and Harry Styles with six nods, whereas K-pop sensation BTS bagged four nominations.
Other artistes who bagged a spot on the nominations list at this year's MTV Video Music Awards are Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Billie Eilish who have five nominations each.
Harlow and Lil Nas X, both the performers will also compete for the artist of the year award alongside Drake, Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lizzo.
The MTV VMAs is scheduled to take place on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Fan-voting will begin from Tuesday across 22 categories at vote.mtv.com.
Lamar, who is nominated for the first time since 2018, has two songs 'family ties' and 'N95' that will fight for best cinematography. The rapper was also nominated for best hip-hop, direction, visual effects, editing and video for good.
Meanwhile, queen of pop, Madonna – the most awarded artist in MTV history with 20 wins – becomes the only artist to receive a nomination in each of the VMAs five decades. She earned her 69th nomination for her 14th studio album ‘Madame X’.
The awards this year will have 26 first-time nominees including Baby Keem with four along with Kacey Musgraves, GAYLE and Maneskin – who each have two nominations.
