MrBeast adds star power to Threads! YouTube star becomes 1st user to cross 1 mn followers on Twitter rival

Jimmy 'MrBeast' Donaldson, renowned YouTuber and social media personality has become the first individual to amass over a million followers on Threads, the newly-launched Twitter competitor developed by Meta.

The launch of this new app attracted millions of users within hours of its release. Notably, Mark Zuckerberg himself broke an eleven-year Twitter silence to endorse the platform.

Impressively, MrBeast seems to have effortlessly eclipsed even the Meta CEO, in terms of follower count on Threads. He swiftly surpassed Zuckerberg after joining the platform, boasting a count well above 2 million, while the Meta CEO trails closely behind at above 1.5 million.

The extraordinary feat of being the first person to achieve a million followers on Threads caught the attention of the prestigious Guinness World Records, prompting them to acknowledge the accomplishment on their social media channels.

They even shared a brief clip on Twitter, capturing the exact moment MrBeast reached the milestone.

MrBeast responded to the tweet, writing “Shhhhh, don’t let the twitter police know I’m cheating on them.”


His Threads profile bio succinctly states, "Future Threads CEO," emphasizing his aspirations for the platform.

One of MrBeast's posts humourously implored Mark Zuckerberg to offer him the CEO position, amassing over 100,000 likes. He wrote, "Like this if @zuck should make me CEO."

This feat is unsurprising given that MrBeast reigns as one of the most popular YouTubers globally, commanding a subscriber base of over 165 million on his primary channel. Furthermore, he currently enjoys a substantial following of more than 21 million on Twitter.

Threads, described by Meta as a platform offering "a new, separate space for real-time updates and public conversations," has garnered significant attention from users seeking an alternative to Twitter. It has quickly attracted more than 10 million users.

Like Twitter, users on Threads can publish posts including links, photos and videos, and others can like, reply and share them with their own followers. People can sign in through Instagram, import their profile pictures and bios from the photo-sharing app, and even follow everyone they already follow on Instagram.
