‘Mr. Bachchan’ OTT release coming soon: Where to watch Ravi Teja’s action comedy

Good news for Ravi Teja fans! The star’s latest release, ‘Mr. Bachchan’ is gearing up for an OTT debut! According to a 123 Telugu report, the action comedy is set to premiere on Netflix on September 12. The Ravi Teja-starrer was one of the most anticipated releases of 2024. However, the movie failed to make a mark at the box office. Its lifetime performance at the box office was abysmal.

Ahead of the movie's premiere, OTT Play disclosed that the production team at People Media Factory secured a substantial Rs 33 crore deal by selling the streaming rights to Netflix, the highest amount ever for a Ravi Teja film. However, following the movie’s disappointing performance at the box office, Netflix opted to stream the action-packed drama within just a month of its theatrical release.

"Mr. Bachchan" represents Ravi Teja's third consecutive failure at the box office. His two prior films, ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ and ‘Eagle’, also faced significant losses, marking them as major commercial flops.

About ‘Mr. Bachchan’

Titled ‘Mr. Bachchan: The Only Hope’, the Ravi Teja-starrer is an out-and-out masala action drama. Directed by Hari Shankar, the movie marks Teja’s third collaboration with the veteran director.

Aside from Ravi Teja, the film also features Jagapathi Babu, Sachin Khedekar, and Satya, among others. It also marks Bhagyashri Borse’s Tollywood debut.

The movie draws inspiration from a real-life income tax raid carried out on Indian industrialist Sardar Inder Singh. Ravi Teja portrayed Anand, also known as Mr. Bachchan, a dedicated Income Tax Officer renowned for his relentless pursuit of individuals hiding black money.

This film is an official adaptation of the 2018 Hindi movie ‘Raid’. It hit theaters on August 15, 2024, and received mostly unfavorable reviews from critics. Due to the criticism, the runtime was shortened by 13 minutes. Despite a hefty budget of Rs 70 crore, the film earned only Rs 30 crore during its theatrical run.
