Considering the recent flurry of fines that have been imposed on people for violating traffic rules, a government app called mParivahan may come in handy for a lot of people. We used the mParivahan app to test and find out whether it is actually useful or not. Developed by NIC, mParivahan app can be used to easily access important documents like driving license, vehicle registration certificate, insurance validity among other things.
The app also has a feature to create virtual RC and DL, which is considered an authentic proof. In other words, you don’t need to carry original documents for these two. There’s also a DL mock test feature in the app for those who want to apply for new driving license.
Available on both Android and iOS platforms, it is easy to set up and use. For starters, the app allows users to check the basic details of any vehicle by just entering the registration number without registering themselves. It saves the unnecessary hassle of keying in your details.
MParivartan App is available on both Android and iOS platforms. Though to create a virtual RC or DL one has go through the registration process, which itself is fairly simple. All one has to key in is their phone number and name, which is followed by an OTP verification. The app interface is quite easy to navigate with services and information neatly segregated. Creating a virtual RC or DL is also easy and can be added to a dashboard. However, to keep the details secure one has verify them by entering the last four digits of the vehicle's chassis number and the engine number. Saved RC and DL can be found under the respective dashboards within the app and there’s also an option to share the virtual IDs.
In addition to this, mParivahan app has some other utilities like locating nearest RTO, procedures related to RC and DL among other things.
The one key feature that is missing in the app is the ability to get challan notifications or paying them right within the app. It would’ve been a nice value addition — considering the rate at which challans are reportedly being issued. All in all, the mParivahan app is a handy companion to have on your smartphone to avoid hassles on your daily commute in your vehicle.
