Move over, IQ, EQ: Jack Ma says LQ is what you need to be respected

His is a rags to riches story, and Jack Ma, founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba, never ceases to surprise his audience with his philosophies.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, Ma emphasised that to be successful, it’s not enough to have just a high Intelligence Quotient (IQ) or a high Emotional Quotient (EQ). The mystery factor that everyone must possess, he said, is a high Love Quotient.

“To gain success, a person needs high EQ; if you don’t want to lose quickly you will need a high IQ, and if you want to be respected, you need high LQ — the IQ of love,” Ma said.
