Mohanlal's wife Suchitra regrets not having a copy of a special photo with him before their marriage

Long before Mohanlal rose to prominence in Malayalam film his wife, Suchitra Mohanlal, had formed an opinion about him. Instead, Suchitra advised that the case be brought ahead with the assistance of renowned actor Sukumari, whom her father knew well. It was an unconventional beginning to a relationship that would eventually become one of Malayalam cinema's most enduring celebrity marriages.

Her Father Had One Serious Warning

While Suchitra's family supported her decision, her father wanted her to fully understand what she was signing up for. Prior to the marriage, he reportedly stated that being married to an actor would be significantly different from a traditional family life. Mohanlal's work may necessitate that he be away from home for days due to shooting commitments. Suchitra recalled that her father had advised her to think carefully before committing. His warning was especially harsh: she should not return home and moan about her husband's continual absence for business.
