Mohanlal & Mammootty share Onam wishes, fans go ballistic over ‘Mamukka’ & ‘Laletta’

August is one of the most auspicious months in Kerala. This is the time when Malayalis get together to celebrate Onam.

Also known as Thiruvonam, Onam is the most auspicious harvest festival in Kerala. Every year, this grand 10-day festival is celebrated with pomp and fervor to commemorate the return of King Mahabali, the Asura King of Kerala on the day of Thiruvonam from the netherworld.

On this sacred occasion, many A-listers from Mollywood took to social media to wish their fans a happy Onam.


Superstar Mammootty shared two of his selfies on X, and wrote, “My heartiest wishes to all, along with a smiley emoji.” In the two pictures, the ‘Christopher’ star could be seen appearing radiant in an off-white shirt and mundu. The post went viral, gaining 35K views. Fans flooded the comment section to wish the star.

“Happy Onam Mammukka,” wrote a Twitter user. Another commented, “Happy Onam Ikka!”

Mohanlal or A10 also wished a happy Onam to his fans. The ‘Lucifer’ star shared a picture as well as a video of him descending from the stairs along with the words, “Happy Onam!” Along with the video clip, he wrote, “My heartiest congratulations to the Malayalis!” Some of his fans gushed over his pristine look. One wrote, “Laletta traditional look!” Another commented, “That magic stance of L!” “Lalettan in Mundu hits different,” gushed another Twitter user.

This year, Onam started on August 20 and will continue till August 31.
