The film was originally scheduled to release on April 5.
A biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi that has courted controversy over its release coinciding with the first phase of polling, has run into trouble. The film, which was originally scheduled to hit the screens on Friday, will now see a later release.

The producer of the film, Sandip Ssingh confirmed the news of the movie not releasing on April 5 on Twitter. He also wrote that the makers will update about the film's status soon.

The biopic, which has Vivek Oberoi playing Modi, has been making headlines as the release date neared. The Opposition hit out at the Government and questioned the timing of the film, coming in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. The first phase of polling begins on April 11.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday will take up a plea filed by a Congress leader seeking a stay on the film. Earlier this week, both the Bombay High Court and a bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected pleas seeking a ban on the film.
