The film will mark Akshay Kumar's fourth collaboration with director Neeraj Pandey after 'Special 26', 'Baby' and 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'.
Biopics have become the new cool in Bollywood. From sports stars to politicians and celebrities, directors are shifting focus to a new and educational form of entertainment, and actor Akshay Kumar seems to be in sync with the new trend. The 51-year-old, who is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film 'Mission Mangal', has reportedly been roped in for a biopic of Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The film will mark Kumar's fourth collaboration with director Neeraj Pandey after 'Special 26', 'Baby' and 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. A Times Now report suggests that the film will be a thriller and will feature the highlights of Doval's career. While Kumar and Pandey are both engaged in other projects at present, they are likely to begin work for this one soon.
Doval's character was earlier brought to life by Paresh Rawal in the film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' which released earlier this year. During the initial stages of his career, the former Intelligence Bureau Director served as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in Kerala. He was also a member of the team that strategised the Balakot Air Strike which took place in retaliation to the Pulwama attack in February this year. Doval is a recipient of the Kirti Chakra, one of the highest military gallantry awards.
Kumar's film 'Mission Mangal' is set to hit theatres on Independence Day. The film chronicles India's Operation Mangalyaan (2014) and also stars Vidya Balan and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles. It showcases the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the struggles of its scientists who made the mission a success.

"I really enjoyed working with the people. It was wonderful. My director was a wonderful person. I hope I get an opportunity to work there again," said the actress, who had starred in the 1985 Malayalam movie "Akalathe Ambili".
"Those days, a lot of Hindi films were made in south India. Then also, it was much more organised than in Mumbai or north India. My idea of south (Indian film industry) was always that it was more organised and that attracts you because it has got discipline. People are professionals and, still, there is a kind of basic emotion surrounding it and very work-oriented," said Supriya, whose mother tongue is Gujarati.
