After keeping fans hooked through three seasons, Mirzapur has finally made its way to the big screen. Mirzapur: The Movie arrived in theatres on September 4, bringing back several familiar faces and the power struggles that made the crime franchise popular. With the film now enjoying a strong theatrical run, fans who prefer watching from home are already wondering when they can stream it online.

Streaming details of Mirzapur The Movie

According to GQ India, for viewers waiting for the digital release, Mirzapur: The Movie will stream on Amazon Prime Video, which also remains the home of the original series. However, an official OTT release date has not been announced yet by the makers or the streaming platform. Fans will therefore have to wait for an official confirmation before the film becomes available to watch online.

The movie marks a major change for the franchise as it moves from the streaming screen to theatres. The original Mirzapur series premiered in November 2018 and went on to build a strong following over three seasons. Characters such as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna became closely associated with the show, making their return one of the biggest talking points around the film.

Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh, who has previously directed episodes of the Prime Video series. Puneet Krishna, who created the original series, has written the film.

Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu return

The film brings back the franchise's key characters. Pankaj Tripathi reprises his role as Kaleen Bhaiya, the powerful figure at the centre of the Mirzapur empire. Ali Fazal returns as Guddu Pandit, while Divyenndu is back as Munna.

The return of Munna has been particularly exciting for fans because of how his story unfolded in the series. The film also features several other familiar faces, including Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi Sharma and Ravi Kishan.

Jitendra Kumar has joined the cast as well. His addition comes after Vikrant Massey stepped away from the project.

The makers have not revealed too many details about the plot, keeping the major twists under wraps. However, the film continues the story established through the three seasons of Mirzapur. The world remains centred on power, revenge and the battle for control of Mirzapur.

With the story now moving to the big screen, the makers have also expanded the scale of the franchise while retaining the characters and conflicts that viewers already know.

Mirzapur The Movie box office collection

While the OTT release is still some time away, the film has already made a strong impression at the box office. Mirzapur: The Movie reportedly collected around Rs 12 crore net in India on its first Wednesday.

According to the box-office figures provided, the Wednesday collection was around 20 per cent lower than Tuesday and about 25 per cent below Monday. However, the drop was considered healthy given the film's level of business. The movie managed to maintain its momentum instead of witnessing a sharp midweek fall.

The film's six-day India net collection stood at approximately Rs 135 crore. Its first-week collection was expected to reach around Rs 145 crore.

The Wednesday numbers were also compared with Border 2. Despite Border 2 opening at a significantly higher level, Mirzapur: The Movie was said to be showing a better trend at this stage of its run.

The film is also expected to benefit from the Ganesh Chaturthi holidays on Monday and Tuesday. Based on its current performance, the box-office assessment suggests that Mirzapur: The Movie could cross Rs 250 crore net during its lifetime theatrical run and finish as a blockbuster.

For now, fans waiting to revisit the world of Kaleen Bhaiya and Guddu Pandit from home will have to wait for Amazon Prime Video to announce the official streaming date. Stay tuned!
