Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, known for the Drishyam series, recently ventured into new territory with his suspense thriller Mirage. He is also known for his expertise in crime and mystery. Joseph expressed a desire to experiment with different genres, but ironically, most of the scripts offered to him remain in the thriller space. Mirage features Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali in leading roles, supported by Hakim Shahjahan, Hannah Reji Koshy, and Saravanan. Now, the movie is gearing up for the digital release.

The story revolves around Abhirami (Aparna Balamurali), whose life turns chaotic when her fiancé, Kiran (Hakim Shahjahan), mysteriously disappears. Determined to uncover the truth, she joins forces with Aswin (Asif Ali), a digital investigative journalist, and together they dive into a world of secrets, hidden documents, and dangerous conspiracies. The duo faces betrayals, shocking revelations, and unexpected alliances as they work to unravel Kiran’s double life.

Mirage was jointly produced by Naad Studios and E4 Experiments, with additional support from Seven 1 Seven Productions and Bedtime Stories. Music for the film was composed by Vishnu Shyam, complementing the suspenseful atmosphere with a fitting soundtrack.

The movie premiered in theatres on September 19, 2025, and while it garnered some appreciation for its performances and thriller elements, it ultimately received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike.

In terms of box-office performance, the film managed a total collection of just Rs 4.08 crore, making it a modest commercial venture.
