NEW YORK: A stuffed "Minion" toy helped save the life of a 5-year-old girl in US after it cushioned her fall when she accidentally fell out of a third-story window.

The girl was playing in her bedroom at an apartment in Colorado Springs when she fell backward out of the window on Thursday. She dropped about three stories to the ground.

Luckily, her plunge was cushioned by the "Minion" stuffed toy she was clutching, police said.

"Fortunately, when the child fell out of the window, she continued holding on to a stuffed Minion teddy bear that is believed to have cushioned her fall," the police said in a statement.

The girl, who suffered a broken arm, was treated in a hospital and was subsequently released, coloradosprings.com reported.
