Milind Soman has always been known for his focus on fitness and a healthy lifestyle, but his interests go well beyond workouts and running. Milind and his wife Ankita Konwar started growing their own vegetables at home, and what began as a lockdown project soon turned into a flourishing little garden. From pumpkins and cucumbers to leafy greens and brinjals, their home now has plenty of fresh produce.

Milind gave his Instagram followers a glimpse of his home garden, showing off a large pumpkin that he had successfully grown. The actor also shared a picture with Ankita, who was seen holding another pumpkin from their garden.

The garden, however, is not limited to pumpkins. He built a small greenhouse at home

One of the most interesting parts of Milind's gardening journey was his decision to create a small greenhouse. He revealed that he built the structure shortly before the 2020 lockdown, turning it into a dedicated space for growing vegetables.

Milind jokingly called himself a "bearded farmer" in an Instagram post, crediting Ankita for encouraging the idea. He also revealed that the caretaker at his home had given the greenhouse a simple and rather charming name - "Sabzee ka Ghar."

His pictures from inside the greenhouse showed plants and creepers covering much of the space. The setup appeared to make use of a terrace or balcony area, proving that growing vegetables does not necessarily require a huge piece of land.

How to build a small greenhouse at home

According to LIV Space, a greenhouse does not always have to be a large, expensive structure. A basic version can be created at home with a few simple materials, provided the location and growing conditions are suitable.

The first step is to choose a spot that receives plenty of sunlight. A location with good morning sunlight can be particularly useful for plants. Before building the structure, it is important to consider the available space and ensure that plants will get enough light and ventilation.

For a simple homemade greenhouse, a basic frame can be constructed using wooden planks or bamboo shoots. The frame provides support for the covering and can be designed according to the size of the available space.

The structure can then be covered with materials such as UV-stabilised polyethylene or acrylic sheets. These coverings can help retain warmth inside the greenhouse while allowing sunlight to reach the plants.

Once the basic structure is ready, suitable containers, soil and plants can be added. Vegetables such as tomatoes, chillies, leafy greens and other plants can be grown depending on the climate, available space and sunlight.

Milind's experience shows that even a relatively small home garden can produce an impressive variety of vegetables.
