NEW DELHI: Singer Mika, who was shot slapping a doctor onstage during his live performance, today defended himself claiming the guy was drunk and causing disruption.

An FIR has been lodged against the 'Jumme ki raat' hitmaker here by Shrikant, an ophthalmologist posted at Ambedkar Hospital.

The video of the incident, which took place on Saturday night at the event organised by Delhi Ophthalmological Society, has been doing the rounds on the Internet.

"Whenever men dance, kids and women get pushed behind so I was trying to get women in the front and men behind them. He (doctor) was drunk and did not listen to me though I kept telling him to move aside and let others enjoy. He abused me, showed me the middle finger," Mika told a news channel.

The doctor, meanwhile, said it was the singer who was abusive.

He said that the singer wanted him to move aside even when there was enough space for others to dance. When he did not agree, Mika's bouncers took him on the stage and the singer slapped him.
