Those wishing to continue deferring Windows updates will need to change local Group Policy settings to match.
A common grouse with users of Windows 10 are the constant updates. The notifications keep piling up, and it is impossible ignore those pop-ups asking for users to restart and install the software patch to keep their systems up to date.
However, the business-focussed versions of the popular operating system have let users avoid major updates for up to a year, which is helpful for those who want a stable interface or are simply reluctant to change. Enterprise users will soon lose this privilege.
According to reports by WindowsTimes and Gizmodo, the latest Windows 10 version 2004 has cut down on manual update deferrals for Windows 10 Pro, Education and Enterprise settings to 35 days. This is the same leeway offered to Windows 10 Home users.
Microsoft has pulled the option to defer from the Windows Update settings in Advanced Options. Those wishing to continue deferring updates will need to change local Group Policy settings to match.
Microsoft said that this change is meant to “prevent confusion” and streamline policy targeted at PC running both Home and Pro, whose versions are almost out of service. While users might crib about the constant updates, on the flip side, there are advantages to truncating the deferral period.
This ensures that PCs are current with respect to support and features, thereby fixing blind spots in the security architecture that may be prone to attack. Some companies may not take kindly to the new policy, as they usually avoid updates to ensure smooth a transition without hampering their workflow.

Microsoft has, on occasion, released updates that had a lot of bugs. The 35-day period to defer updates gives Microsoft limited time to fix those glitches, meaning that their engineers will have to be on their toes to guarantee a bug-free experience to enterprise users.

Technology trends make it clear that in a post Covid world, more content will be watched and consumed on mobile devices, be it in form of video conferencing for a meeting, an online class, or Video for entertainment. Even before the pandemic, video occupied over 70% of the content transmitted over the mobile network.
This will rise exponentially in the post Covid world and will overburden mobile networks which are not designed to handle such load. To prevent network congestion and improve user experience, the communication companies will use “Shared” spectrum.
