Microsoft launches Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL smartphones

NEW DELHI: Microsoft launched two smartphones - Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL - on Tuesday, priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 15,799, respectively even as it dedicated one model exclusively for online, a first for the company.

The Lumia 640 will be available exclusively on Flipkart from today.

Raghuvesh Sarup, marketing director for Microsoft Mobiles Devices said that while the company will have presence across all channels, some devices would be launched for the online channel going forward. He did not share details of the number or type of devices which would go online.

The Lumia 640, which was launched in Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March, has a 5-inch HD LCD display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and runs on the Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB RAM.

The device has a 2,500mAh battery which can go up to 35 days on standby mode and also has NFC among other features. The Lumia 640 XL meanwhile is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and has a 5.7 inch screen

While the Lumia 640 has an 8-megapixel rear camera and 0.9-megapixel front camera, the Lumia 640 XL has a 13 Megapixel rear camera. Both devices are dual-SIM 3G enabled and run on Windows Phone 8.1 which will be updated to Windows 10 OS.

Consumers purchasing the phones between now and June, will get 1 TB or 1000 GB of One Drive storage. Those buying the Lumia 640 XL will get cashback deals from Mobikwik and Olacabs.
