During an episode of Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast, Michelle, 61, explained why she has stepped back from the political spotlight, and it has nothing to do with personal ambition—it’s about protecting her daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23.

“I was so glad when we got out of the White House,” Michelle admitted. “I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them.”

While many have speculated that Michelle could be a formidable political contender, she made it clear that her family has already sacrificed enough.

“When people ask me if I would ever run [for office], the answer is no,” she said firmly. “People have absolutely no idea the sacrifice that your kids make when your parents are in that role.”

She emphasized that not only does she have no interest in a political career, but the idea of dragging her daughters back into the public eye is something she refuses to do.

“They’ve already served their time,” she added. “It would be unthinkable. Nope.”

Michelle’s comments come amid growing speculation about her noticeable absence from several high-profile events, including former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Barack Obama’s recent solo public outings, such as a Los Angeles Clippers game.

According to reports, Michelle has been spending most of her time at the family’s home in Martha’s Vineyard rather than in Washington, D.C. Sources claim she has no interest in returning to the political scene.

“You cannot tell Michelle what to do—no one can,” an insider told Page Six, reinforcing that the former First Lady is fully in control of her post-White House life.
