The film features Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles.

The film is considered a spiritual successor to Life in a... Metro. Metro… In Dino follows director Anurag Basu’s signature storytelling style, weaving together multiple love stories across different stages of life. Aditya Roy Kapur plays Parth, a man hesitant to commit, who unexpectedly connects with Thumri (Sara Ali Khan), despite her engagement. Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher portray an elderly couple reconnecting after years apart. Meanwhile, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s characters navigate an unplanned pregnancy, and Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi play a couple dealing with emotional distance and infidelity.

Konkona Sen Sharma is the only actor returning from Life in a… Metro (2007). Director Anurag Basu originally intended to bring back both Konkona and the late Irrfan Khan, but after Irrfan’s passing, the script was revised. Retaining Konkona’s character helped maintain emotional continuity with the original film.


Metro… In Dino has received a mixed-to-positive response from both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 64% critic score and an 84% audience rating. Performances by Konkona and Pankaj Tripathi have been widely praised, while Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur have also earned appreciation. Pritam’s music has been lauded for evoking nostalgia, though some viewers found the pacing slow in parts.
