#MeToo: Swara Bhasker bats for a safer environment at workplace, calls sexual harassment a 'disease'

Bhasker has been appointed as a member of a CINTAA committee to handle sexual harassment cases.

Actress Swara Bhasker, an active supporter of the #MeToo movement in India, says that sexual harassment cases in workplace are like an epidemic. She wishes to bring about awareness about it in the film and television industry.

The 30-year-old actress has been appointed as a member of a committee set up by Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) to handle sexual harassment cases in the industry. She will be accompanied by actresses like Renuka Shahane and Raveena Tandon.

The 'Veere Di Wedding' actress spoke about her role in the committee. She said that she is a member of the sub-committee which is responsible for conducitng workships for spreading awareness against sexual harassment in the workplace.

One the work front, Bhasker is currently gearing up for two web-series; one is titled 'It's Not That Simple' and the other is named 'Rasbhari'.

The 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' actress also talked about an upcoming project where she will be playing the role of a police office who speaks Marathi.

Bhasker's upcoming web series 'Rasbhari' will be directed by Nikhil Bhat. It will be a 10-episode series about the local culture of a small town in Uttar Pradesh. She will be playing the role of an English teacher named Shanoo in a Meerut school who happens to catch the attention of a boy from the 11th grade.
