Met Gala 2023: Alia Bhatt's white gown with 100K pearls, Priyanka Chopra looks edgy in thigh-slit Valentino dress, Kim Kardashian makes an entry in Schiaparelli outfit

Meta Gala 2023, the fashion’s biggest night out, went live early morning where A-listers from across the word came down to attend the event dressed to the nine in some of the classic designs and outfits by late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Lagerfeld was the honoree at the A-list gala with many in the crowd of about 400 dressed in vintage looks from the fashion houses where he worked during a career of more than 60 years. The late designer worked for Chanel, Fendi, Chloé, Jean Patou, Balmain, his own brand and more.

At the much-awaited gala, several attendees wore black to walk the unusual carpet in a line design. It was a colour Lagerfeld wore almost exclusively. Black-and-white combos were also plentiful.


Apart from the biggies of Hollywood, Indian beauties such as Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt also stole the limelight at the Met Gala. The 'Gangubai Kathiwadi' star made heads turn during her debut Met Gala appearance.

Bhatt, who recently became a mother of a baby girl with husband Ranbir Kapoor, was a sight in her pearl gown by designer Prabal Gurung, the dress that was inspired by supermodel Claudie Schiffer's 1992 Channel bridal look.

"A girl can never have too many pearls… and the right accessories to complement the look which in our case translated to the bow of pearls on my hair," Bhatt shared on her debut Met Gala appearance and pearl outfit.

To pearl dress, which was completely made in India, has embroidery of 100,000 pearls. "I have always been fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture," the actress wrote in her Instagram post.

Priyanka Chopra, riding high on the success of 'Citadel' and the OG of red carpets, arrived at the Met Gala 2023 with her husband Nick Jonas. The power couple looked breathtaking in their twinning black Valentino outfits.

The 'Desi Girl' styled her thigh-slit black off-shoulder gown with classic bell sleeves.

Reality TV fame Kim Kardashian showed up literally dripping pearls at the Met Gala. The social media influencer wore a taupe Schiaparelli gown covered in pearls from head to toe.

Supermodels Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner also graced the high-profile event. Hadid arrived in black Givenchy outfit with feathers, a drop waist and sheer train in tulle. The dress took more than 300 hours to make.

Meanwhile Jenner was also in black (like many), minus pants. The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashian' star wore a sparkly leotard with long sleeves that has pieces doubling as a train.

On her feet, Jenner wore towering black boots by Marc Jacobs. With her hair neatly tied in a high ponytail, Jenner paid a homage to the late fashion designer with her high white collar.

Make-up mogul Kylie Jenner arrived at the Met Gala in yet another iconic outfit, wearing two-tone dress with a cover-up.

The Instagram star kept her look simple yet fierce with dazzling earrings and a messy updo.

Who Let The Cat Out Of The Bag?
As we saw these beauties look ethereal at the unique carpet, elegant wasn't entirely the hallmark of the evening celebrating Lagerfeld.

Actor and musician Jared Leto showed up dressed as Choupette, Lagerfeld's beloved fluffy cat. Whereas rapper Lil Nas X went full cat covered in crystals by Pat McGrath and Dior Men.

Serena Williams Debuts Baby Bump
Former tennis player Serena Williams unveiled her baby bump on the red carpet at the Met Gala in New York. The athlete revealed she is pregnant with her second child.

"Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala," Williams said on Instagram just before she arrived at the Met Gala, dressed in black and white gown.

Williams and Ohanian are already parents to Olympia, born in September 2017.

This year’s five hosts include Anna Wintour, as usual, and also Michaela Coel, longtime Chanel ambassador Penélope Cruz, and recently retired tennis superstar Roger Federer.
