Meet ‘Jewels with Jules’, the Insta-influencer who decoded Nita Ambani’s $6.5 million diamond ring

The Anant and Radhika pre-wedding celebrations at Jamnagar saw the Ambani family dazzle and shine. The gorgeous baubles, regal neckpieces, statement rings and even the groom’s diamond buttons left the internet in awe. And one of the people they were turning to for answers: Julia Chafe.

The US-based social media influencer is among the most popular jewellery influencers with over 3,18,000 followers on Instagram and over 1,50,000 on TikTok. Many social media users began tagging ‘Jewels with Jules’, asking her to decode the value of the massive gems.



Her post calling attention to the Raghavendra Rathore diamond buttons on Anant Ambani’s ivory Rohit Bal sherwani racked up 3.5 million views. But it was her post on Nita Ambani’s $6.5 million diamond ring that went viral. Chafe says she found out via an Instagram DM that the diamond is called Mirror of Paradise, a D-colour internally flawless diamond, weighing 52.58 carats, that was sold at a Christie’s ‘Maharajas and Mughals’ auction in 2019. It was last spotted on Nita Ambani’s finger at the NMACC gala, Chafe said.

Who Is Julia Chafe?

Chafe has gained popularity for her videos decoding high-fashion jewellery, such as the one on Beyonce’s Tiffany diamond dress that she wore on her Renaissance tour, or that of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner, Georgina Rodriguez taking a dip wearing rubies.

She is a gemstone wholesaler at Intercolor USA, a family-owned New York-based company that specialises in sourcing fine-quality sapphires, rubies, emeralds, tanzanites, tsavorites and alexandrites. So she knows what she's talking about.

When not at her job, Chafe’s posting about out-of-this-world celebrity bling. Her videos rack up hundreds of thousands of views. Chafe’s recent post on Isha Ambani’s jewel-studded blouse on Day 3 of Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding festivities, posted just a couple of days ago, has over 1.6 million views.

“Just when I thought their family was done surprising me, Isha whipped out this little thing. A blouse made using a bunch of her old jewels and a ton of new jewels. It features emeralds, rubies, diamonds, just about everything in between,” Chafe said, highlighting the Indian Jadau jewellery art form. Jadau is an exquisite art form that involves embedding precious gemstones such as uncut diamonds, pearls, emeralds, rubies, coral, turquoise, sapphires, and other jewels into semi-solid gold, traditionally used for jewellery, not clothes.

Diamond Tracking

Chafe has been tracking the Ambanis for a while. Last year, Chafe went gaga over Isha’s impressive diamond-studded look at the 2023 Met Gala. “Just stacks on stacks on stacks of diamonds,” she said, drawing attention to Isha wearing not one, but four diamond necklaces, a gigantic solitaire ring, diamond drop earrings and a diamond finger cuff bracelet.


Then in November, she decoded the massive heart-shaped ring that Isha wore to designer Manish Malhotra’s Diwali bash, calling it “easily over 10 carats”. “And here’s the best part. Her [soon-to-be] sister-in-law Radhika has the matching set. There’s the matching necklace and matching earrings,” she said, referring to the set Radhika Merchant wore for Day of the NMACC gala event. In another video, Chafe decoded that set, putting the cost somewhere in the vicinity of $1.5 million.
