When Noshir Kaka, MD, Mckinsey India ran a search on Amazon.com using the word "disruption" in the books category, he got 1,571 results. "This was as of Tuesday afternoon," he said, indicating the popularity of the theme as books go these days.

Kaka was speaking at an Asia Society event on Tuesday, where a new book on disruption was in discussion: No Ordinary Disruption: The Four Global Forces Breaking All the Trends written by Richard Dobbs, director of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI).

After Kaka's introduction, Dobbs briefly presented key themes in the book. A conversation on the subject, between the author and Uday Kotak, EVC & MD, Kotak Mahindra Bank, moderated by Anu Madgavkar, senior fellow, MGI followed.

By the end of the hour-long session, no one was left with any doubt that Uber constitutes disruptive. The double-digit mentions the app found from Dobbs were proof enough.
