A life-long love of food has delivered Rose Adam to the MasterChef Australia kitchen in 2015. But it hasn't been a path without hurdles. Embracing their Lebanese heritage, the close-knit family bought and ran a deli, working together for many years. There were some tough times, but Rose says her mum never let it show as Rose, who you can catch on MasterChef Australia, Mon - Fri, 9pm on Star World, learned to cook with her mum and aunties. In a quick chat with ET Panache, Rose tells us about her love for cooking.

Tell us when you got interested in food?

My interest in food comes from my big family and background. Always being around food for a specail occasion has left a good impression on me.

What's the ultimate dream for you?

To open a little modern middle-eastern café with my family.

What's your taken on Indian cuisine? Have you tried cooking it?

It's delicious and one of my favourite cuisines to eat. I have cooked it many times, mind you its nowhere near as authentic as it should be but it's a very loving, generous and exciting cusuine.

If you were to describe yourself as a flavour, what would you consider yourself to be?

I would describe myself to be like fairy floss… messy and sweet.

What's your ideal comfort food?

Anything my mum cooks for me.

What food trend do you look forward to?

Where there is minimal to no wastage with cooking.

What trend/ ingredient do you think is overrated?

I think the trend of cooking in a water bath, sous vide, it's great for a big restaurant but at home you can cook the old fashioned way.

What trend/ ingredient do you think is underrated?

I think that the chickpeas are underrated, there is so much you can do with them and they are delicious!
