Marico boss turns Ethiopian runner Sifan Hassan's unusual running victory into a life lesson

On Monday, Ethiopian-born sprinter Sifan Hassan won a 1,500-metre run despite a scary fall in the final lap. After tripping, she picked herself up and continued running to finally win a gold.

After looking at the runner's unusual winning spirit, Harsh Mariwala took to Twitter to inspire his 909K followers.


Alongside a 47-second-long video of the 28-year-old sprinter winning the 1,500-metre race, the Marico Chairman said that Hassan's never-give-up approach at the Tokyo Olympics got her victory.

The 71-year-old tycoon said, "If you ever fall down, stand up, get back in the race and march on."

The FMCG boss has co-authored a book with business advisor Ram Charan, 'Harsh Realities', that compiles his learnings for aspiring entrepreneurs. The book, published by Penguin India, is available on Amazon & Flipkart.

The businessman is fairly active on social media and regularly shares life lessons with his fans with the hashtag - #HarshRealities - a word play on his name.
