Mariah Carey to come out with memoir in September, will share her story of survival and struggle

NEW YORK: Singer Mariah Carey will come out with her memoir in September in which she will tell her story of survival and resilience and the struggle she underwent during her meteoric rise to music superstardom, the publishers announced on Thursday.
In "The Meaning of Mariah Carey", the American singer-songwriter walks through her battles with gender and power dynamics, emotional abuse, public embarrassments, personal failures and phenomenal victories.
In her own words and song lyrics, she reveals untold moments and intimate experiences along with anecdotes of sacred moments with iconic figures to craft an honest, unique and vivid portrait of her extraordinary life.
The book will be published on September 29 by Pan Macmillan in the UK, Andy Cohen Books in the US, an Imprint at Henry Holt & Company, and Audible, a release said.
The announcement was made by Andy Cohen and Rachel Ghiazza, Executive Vice President, Head of US Content at Audible.
"This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs. Unfiltered," Carey said in a letter shared on social media.

"Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit," she said.
In the Audible performance, Carey will lend her voice to her own life story.
The book is written with image activist Michaela Angela Davis.

From Lady Gaga’s multiple outfit changes to Deepika and Priyanka’s iconic ‘campy’ fashion, the Met Gala gave us plenty of memorable moments last year. One of the most celebrated fashion events of the year, the Met Gala, scheduled to happen on the first Monday of the month of May, was postponed in March due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
However, the Met announced on Tuesday that this year's event has been called off entirely "due to the global health crisis", as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
This year’s theme was "About Time: Fashion and Duration". The likes of Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Louis Vuitton's creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere were set as the hosts for the event.
The exhibit was earlier said to open from May 7 to September 7. It will now open from October 29 to February 7, 2021.
Sadly, all of us would have to wait another year to see our favourite fashion icons, dazzle in their attire at the pink carpet.

Oscars 2020 had plenty of moments that were talked about for months to come. From Bong Joon Ho’s iconic winning speech for ‘Parasite’, to Eminem’s and Billie Eilish’s lively performances, this year, Oscars were running high on entertainment quotient.
The question remains - will the 2021 Oscars take place at all, given the current global health crisis?
While it is possible that the Covid-19 outbreak might become less intense by the end of 2020, that doesn’t mean Oscars 2021, (scheduled to take place on February 28 next year) can take place as planned.
One of the multiple anonymous sources told the Variety magazine that the ceremony is likely to be postponed, particularly because the Hollywood film industry has been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the Covid-crisis, several theaters have been shut, blockbuster releases delayed and production halted. The Academy has been forced to make several changes in the eligibility criteria and rules and given the current situation, it is likely that the ceremony itself might be postponed.
