Manoj Bajpayee’s mother Geeta Devi passes away at 80

Actor Manoj Bajpayee's mother Geeta Devi died on Thursday morning after a brief illness at a hospital here. According to the actor's spokesperson, Geeta Devi was not keeping well for around 20 days and passed away today at 8.30 am at the Max Super Speciality Hospital.

"Manoj Bajpayee's mother Geeta Devi passed away today at 8:30 am. She wasn't keeping well for the past 20 days and was undergoing treatment at Max Super Speciality Hospital," the statement read.

The cause of death was not disclosed by the family.


Geeta Devi is survived by two other sons and three daughters.

Bajpayee's father RK Bajpayee passed away last year in October in Delhi.

On the work front, Bajpayee will soon frontline a court-room drama titled 'Bandaa'. The actor took to Instagram to introduce the movie to his fans. Sharing the poster, he wrote a post with the caption, " "Ek #Bandaa Hai...Jo sach ke liye ladta hai. A story of a lawyer who fought for truth & justice against all odds.Presenting #Bandaa story of man who never gave up! An honour to essay this role."

The movie is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki who has previously worked on web shows such as 'Aspirants' and 'Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt Ltd'. Recently he appeared in a remix of 'Sapne Mein Milti Hai' a song from his 1998 hit movie 'Satya'. Titled 'Kudi Meri' the song saw Bajpayee grooving along with Dhvani Bhanushali and Abhimanyu Dassani. The remix was done by Lijo George and DJ Chetas.
