A story rooted in struggle and conflict
At its core, Manithan Deivamagalam follows Raghavan, an ordinary man living in a remote village with his wife Selvi and their young daughter. Life is simple, even difficult at times, as the village itself lacks basic infrastructure like proper roads.Things begin to look up when financial help indirectly reaches them through a loan taken from a powerful local lender. With that support, Raghavan and Selvi set up a small roadside eatery and slowly start building a better life.
But the calm does not last. When Raghavan approaches a local political leader asking for development work in the village, it unintentionally offends a ruthless loan shark named Inbharaj, who is closely linked to power circles. From there, the situation shifts. Harassment, pressure, and fear begin to spread across the village.
The film then moves into a more tense space where Raghavan, despite not wanting conflict, finds himself forced to stand up. It becomes a story about survival, anger, and how far a person can go when pushed into a corner. Some reports also point out that the narrative draws from real-life incidents involving financial exploitation and abuse tied to debt.
