Malayalam playback singer Sangeetha Sajith passes away at 46; CM Pinarayi Vijayan, KS Chitra express grief
Sangeetha breathed her last on Sunday morning at her residence.

Sangeetha had sung over 200 songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Her last work was the theme song for the Prithviraj-starrer 'Kuruthi’. Her song ‘Thanneerai Kathalikkum’ composed by AR Rahman for ‘Mr Romeo’ (1996) was one of the biggest hits of her career.
According to a report in The Hindu, Sangeetha began her career as a playback singer in the Tamil film 'Naalaiya Theerpu'. Malayalam tracks 'Ambili Poovattam' from the movie 'Ennu Swantham Janakikutty' (1998) and 'Dhum Dhum Dooreyetho' from 'Rakkilipattu' (2007), 'Odathandil Thalam Kittum' from 'Pazhassiraja' (2009), and 'Aalare Govinda' from 'Kakkayuil' (2002) are among most popular works. Sangeetha sang 'Thalam Poyi' from Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020) before lending her voice for the track in ‘Kuruthi’.
After her death, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, acclaimed playback singer KS Chitra and other musicians expressed their condolences.
Singer Chitra in a tweet expressed her grief and prayed that the family overcomes the loss.
