All you need to know about Jewel Mary
Jewel Mary began her career as a television presenter, quickly becoming a familiar face in Malayalam households by hosting major celebrity events and award shows. Her natural charm and confidence rose her to fame and opened several doors. She made her mark as an actress with important roles alongside Malayalam superstar Mammootty in films such as Utopiayile Rajavu and Pathemari. Over the years, Jewel featured in several other successful movies, including Ore Mukham, Thrissivaperoor Kliptham, and Get-Set Baby.
In 2015, Jewel married Jenson Zachariah, a television programme producer. Describing their relationship as a mix of arranged and love marriage, after several years, their relationship began to falter. The duo parted way in 2021. The legal process of divorce turned out to be a long and exhausting battle, lasting nearly four years before it was finalised in 2024. Recently, Jewel spoke openly about the difficulty of the process, explaining that unlike mutual divorces, hers involved intense legal struggles.
After the divorce was officially finalised, Jewel took a bold step to rediscover herself. She went on a solo trip across London, Ireland, and Scotland, spending a month away from home to find peace and happiness. Though it meant spending all her savings, she described the journey as a thrilling experience that helped her regain confidence and joy in life.
Battled with cancer and life
Immediately after that, Jewel faced serious health issues. For years, she dealt with thyroid problems and PCOD, which affected her weight and energy levels. A persistent cough led to further medical tests, and after scans and biopsies, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 during her divorce battle. Jewel underwent a seven-hour surgery in February, which caused temporary loss of voice and weakness in her left hand, requiring months of physiotherapy and therapy.
The treatment drained her savings as she did not have medical insurance to cover the expenses. Despite the financial and emotional strain, Jewel remained strong, especially for her family. After six months, doctors confirmed that she was cancer-free. She now undergoes regular check-ups to ensure her health remains stable.
Today, Jewel Mary continues to inspire many with her courage and determination.
