Malaika Arora often takes over the internet with her fashion choices, honest opinions and effortless dance moves, winning hearts across generations. Over the years, the actress has seen both highs and lows in her personal life, yet she has never hesitated to speak her truth. In a recent interview, Malaika once again grabbed the headlines as she opened up about marriage, reflecting on her own journey and explaining why she believes women should not rush into tying the knot at a young age.

Malaika Arora doesn't want women to get married at young age

Drawing from personal experience, Malaika shared that she got married to actor-producer Arbaaz Khan when she was just 25. Looking back, she admitted that while marriage brought meaningful moments into her life, she now feels that taking such a big step too early can often limit personal growth. According to Malaika, young women should first give themselves the time and space to understand who they are and what they truly want from life.

One of the biggest reasons Malaika highlighted was the importance of living and experiencing life before settling down. She said women should explore the world, make mistakes, learn lessons and grow into their own personalities before committing to marriage. In an interview with India Today, she urged women not to “make the mistake” of marrying too early and instead experience life fully before taking such a decision.

Another key point Malaika stressed was financial and emotional independence. She explained that being self-reliant gives women confidence and clarity, both of which are essential for any long-term partnership. According to her, independence allows women to make choices from a place of strength rather than obligation or pressure.

That said, Malaika was careful not to dismiss her past. She acknowledged that her marriage also brought “beautiful things,” especially the joy of becoming a mother at a young age. She shares a son, Arhaan, with Arbaaz Khan, and has often spoken about how motherhood has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of her life.

Malaika Arora opens up about her separation

Talking about her separation from Arbaaz, Malaika revealed that the experience changed how she views marriage as an institution. While she still believes in the idea of marriage, she admitted that it may not necessarily be meant for her again. She clarified that she is not actively looking to remarry and is perfectly content with where she is in life right now.

Malaika added that she is far from bitter or disillusioned. She said she still loves the idea of love, enjoys being loved and believes in nurturing meaningful relationships. However, she no longer feels the need to label happiness through marriage alone. If love comes knocking again, she is open to it.

For the unversed, Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan, who married in 1998 and divorced in 2017, continue to co-parent their son Arhaan with mutual respect.
