Both of their films 'Chaahat' and 'Duplicate' turned out to be box-office duds.
A true king is always magnanimous to all. Bollywood ‘Baadshah’ Shah Rukh Khan has proved yet again that his claim to the title extends beyond box-office performance.
Film-maker Mahesh Bhatt recently lauded SRK for treating him ‘like a king’. The ‘Sadak’ director directed Khan in two films - the romantic musical drama ‘Chaahat’ (1996) and the action comedy ‘Duplicate’ (1998). Both movies bombed at the box-office.
However, that didn’t change the cordial equation between Khan and Bhatt. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the ‘Aashiqui’ director revealed that despite two collaborations flopping, Khan had always treated him with respect. "I am the only one who has made two flops with Shah Rukh Khan. But despite my dismissal performance, he always treated me like a king and it takes a king to treat another person like a king. He is an unusual guy in that respect. I'll always be grateful to him," the director was quoted as saying to the entertainment portal.
He also described the ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ star as an ‘outstanding man’, and added, “You don't make people like that. He's an amazing guy. The actor in him is obviously the vehicle on which the persona stands but I've listened to his heartbeat. There's a very big man in it, a very generous, courageous, great human being."
On the work front, Khan is looking forward to an action-packed 2023, after 4 years of hiatus. He will next be seen in the adventure-thriller ‘Pathaan’. Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathaan’ is slated to hit the theatres in January 2023. Starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, ‘Pathaan’ marks Khan’s return to the silver screen after 4 years. Apart from this, he will also star in Atlee’s action thriller ‘Jawan’ and Rajkumar Hirani’s social comedy-drama ‘Dunki’. Both of these films will be released in 2023.
Bhatt’s directorial ‘Sadak 2’ starring daughter Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor bombed at the box-office. The film-maker is currently on a break from direction and taking on projects as a writer instead. His recent venture was the supernatural-horror romance ‘Judaa Hoke Bhi’ starring Akshay Oberoi and Aindrita Ray in lead roles. The film proved to be a non-starter at the BO.
