2024 has started on a bitter note for cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The former cricketer has filed a criminal complaint against his ex-business partners with whom he formed a sports management company, for robbing him of Rs 15 crore through fraud.

The two suspects named Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas had allegedly signed the cricketer in 2017, to open a global cricket academy named Aarka Sports & Management in his name, but violated the conditions. These conditions included payment of franchise fees and share profits.

However, according to Dhoni’s lawyer, advocate Dayanand Singh of Vidhi Associates, both Diwarkar and Vishwas failed to honour the agreement. As a result, Dhoni withdrew the authorisation letter from Aarka Sports on August 15, 2023. The duo were also sent several legal notices by the cricketer, to no avail.

The website of the firm showcases a huge photo of the legendary cricketer. The company provides athlete and player management services as well as “top-class consultancy”.

The hearing will be held on January 20.
