Maharashtra floods: Ambanis contribute Rs 5 crore, Big B donates Rs 51 lakh to CM's relief fund
CM Devendra Fadnavis took to Twitter to thank RIL and the Big B for their generous contributions.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries contributed Rs 5 crore towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to aid rehabilitation work in flood-hit Maharashtra. The youngest Ambani, Anant, presented the cheque to CM Devendra Fadnavis.
According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, RIL - known for its philanthropic work that ranges from education and healthcare to agricultural initiatives - spent Rs 640 crore towards CSR activities, the highest among Indian companies.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan also contributed Rs 51 lakh towards the CM's relief fund. The 'Paa' actor had earlier contributed towards rehabilitation work in the flood-ravaged regions of Assam, in addition to paying off farmers' loans.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took to Twitter to thank Reliance Industries Limited and the superstar for their generous contributions.

Thanking the Big B, Fadnavis said that his contribution 'will inspire many to help & contribute in our rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected districts like Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara.'

Earlier on August 12, Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh had donated Rs 25 lakh towards the relief fund. And a day later, CM Fadnavis and all other ministers in the Maharashtra cabinet donated a month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
The announcement was made on Twitter by the Chief Minister's Office, "CM Devendra Fadnavis and all the Ministers of Maharashtra Cabinet have decided to donate one month's salary towards the CM Relief Fund for Maharashtra Floods."

Meanwhile, the state Cabinet announced Rs 6,813 crore assistance for the flood-hit people, out of which Rs 4,708 crore was allocated to Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara and Rs 2,105 crore for Konkan region, Nashik and rest of the affected districts.
The death toll due to the floods and heavy rainfall in Pune division reached 54, an official statement said on August 16.

As per the statement from the Divisional Commissioner's office in Pune, at least 4,74,226 people have been rescued from 584 villages and evacuated to 596 temporary shelters in Pune, Sangli, Kolhapur, Satara and Solapur districts.
