Mahakumbh '25: 'Brown beauty' Monalisa becomes victim of Deepfake. Pic of her face superimposed on Wamiqa Gabbi goes viral

Monalisa Bhosle, the ‘brown beauty’ of Mahakumbh Mela, who turned into an Internet sensation for her gorgeous looks, recently became a victim of Deepfake tech. Several videos of her dancing and posing for photojournalists went viral online after reports of her being signed for her Bollywood debut emerged.

The widely circulated videos have appeared across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X. In one clip, Bhosle is seen wearing a red dress while dancing to a Hindi song by the riverside. Another video captures her dressed in black, dancing along the shoreline of a beach. A third clip features her waving and posing for photographers. Logically Facts determined that all of the widely circulated videos in question are deepfakes. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the first two clips originally featured a social media influencer, while the third video actually showed a Bollywood actress engaging with the media. A detailed analysis of these clips exposed clear inconsistencies, including unnatural facial expressions and abrupt shifts in skin tone. Additionally, the original, unaltered videos were successfully traced, proving that the viral content had been digitally manipulated.


The first misleading clip, which depicts Bhosle dressed in red and dancing by the riverside, includes a watermark belonging to an Instagram account named “ni8.out9.” A review of this account led to the discovery of the same video (archived here) within the user’s profile. The account’s bio identifies the owner as a “digital creator,” and importantly, the video was originally shared with a disclaimer clarifying that it had been digitally altered.

The caption accompanying the post explicitly states: “This video was created using face swap technology for entertainment purposes only. The images and likenesses of actors shown here are digitally altered and do not reflect the real appearances, endorsements, or opinions of the individuals depicted. No intention to deceive or mislead; all content is meant solely for fun and creative expression. Viewer discretion is advised.”

A reverse image search confirmed that the actual footage was first uploaded by social media influencer Tanu Rawat on December 11, 2024 (archived here). When comparing both versions, it became evident that Bhosle’s face had been superimposed onto Rawat’s using AI-generated face-swapping technology.

Similarly, the second viral video, which shows Bhosle in a black dress dancing at a beach, was also traced back to the same Instagram account, “ni8.out9” (archived here). Just like the previous clip, this video was originally posted by Rawat on October 14, 2024 (archived here). The footage was altered by mirroring the image and replacing Rawat’s face with Bhosle’s.

A broader investigation of the account “ni8.out9” uncovered multiple similar videos featuring Bhosle’s face inserted into different scenarios. However, all these clips carried disclaimers stating that they were digitally modified and not authentic.

As for the third viral clip, the original footage featured Bollywood actress Wamiqa Gabbi during a media interaction. To verify whether the videos contained AI-generated elements, News18 conducted an additional analysis using Hive Moderation, an advanced AI detection tool. The results confirmed that all the clips exhibited signs of deepfake manipulation, reinforcing the conclusion that Bhosle was never part of the original footage.
