Malayalam romantic comedy Madhuvidhu, starring Sharaf U Dheen and Kalyani Panicker, is now preparing for its OTT release after completing its theatrical run. The film opened in cinemas on April 23 and received attention for its simple family story mixed with humour, romance and emotional moments. Viewers who missed the movie in theatres have now been waiting for details about its streaming release, and the latest reports suggest that the film will soon arrive on OTT.

According to reports, the digital streaming rights of Madhuvidhu have been acquired by Sony LIV. However, the makers have not yet officially confirmed the exact streaming date. Reports say the film is expected to begin streaming once its theatrical run fully concludes.

The movie is directed by Vishnu Aravind and produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films. The project also marks an important film for Kalyani Panicker, daughter of actress Bindu Panicker, as one of her major lead roles.

Story revolves around a family with only men

The film follows the story of the Anjilamoodu family, where only five men live together. Sharaf U Dheen plays Amrut Raj, a man who has reached marriageable age but struggles to find a bride because families hesitate to send their daughters into a household without women.

The family includes Amrut Raj, his younger brother, father, grandfather and younger uncle. While Amrut Raj runs a cafe in memory of his mother, the rest of the family keeps trying to arrange his marriage. But according to the story, as many as 28 proposals fail, leaving the family frustrated and embarrassed.

Things begin to change when Sneha Marcos, played by Kalyani Panicker, enters Amrut Raj’s life. Their relationship slowly develops, but fresh complications emerge because of family concerns and inter-religious differences. From there, the film moves through emotional situations and comedy-filled moments.

Cast and technical team

Along with the lead pair, the film also features Jagadish, Azees Nedumangad, Saikumar, Sreejaya Nair, Amal Jose and Sanju Madhu in important roles.

The screenplay has been written by Bibin Mohan and Jai Vishnu. Music for the film is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab, whose songs have gained popularity across Malayalam and Telugu cinema in recent years. The cinematography is handled by Viswajith Odukkathil, while editing is done by Christy Sebastian.
