Nothing is as addictive as nostalgia. In a recent Instagram post, 3 Idiots star Madhavan shared a reel reminiscing about the “purani din” (or the good old days). The clip had a montage of young Madhavan having the time of his life with friends, his wife, Sarita Birje, etc. In the first clip, the Alai Payuthey star is seen riding a scooter; in another picture, he is seen roaming with Sarita, wearing a simple T-shirt and goggles. He was seen posing with friends from his youth as well. Sharing the clip, the Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein star wrote, "Awesome days.”

Just like his on-screen character, Farhan, Madhavan too told his father he was not interested in pursuing engineering. In a chat with Ranveer Allahabadia, the actor said, 'R Madhavan once opened up about struggling academically during his school years, recalling that he failed Class 8 after scoring just 39% in mathematics.' Since the school refused to promote him to the following grade, the setback deeply worried his family.

His parents were particularly disappointed because, like many families from South India, they had hoped their son would pursue engineering, secure a job with Tata Steel and build a financially secure future. The actor recalled that his parents feared he might not succeed professionally or even find a suitable marriage match.

His academic troubles continued when Madhavan was unable to secure admission to an engineering college, leaving his father heartbroken. He remembered seeing tears in his father's eyes as he questioned what had gone wrong and asked his son about his ambitions.

At that stage, Madhavan admitted that he had no clear idea about the career he wanted to pursue. However, he was certain about one thing: engineering was not the path he wanted to follow.

Ultimately, Madhavan pursued a BSc in Electronics.
