Akhil Jain can’t wait to cross a much-awaited trek off his wishlist.
Akhil Jain is the fourth generation to the Jain Amar Group and ED at Madame, and like many of us can’t wait to travel again. For work and for leisure. “Exploring newer geographies and avenues will take the first priority,” he says. “This is a personal annual maintenance that is long due, where I recede into complete detachment from the material world (including social media, WhatsApp) for 5 to 10 days,” he explains.

“A trek to Kailash Mansarover is due for the last four years is something I look forward to doing once things ease up. I have had to postpone it for a number of reasons – earthquakes, lockdowns etc. For an international holiday, I am looking forward to an Alaskan Cruise or a trip to Cambodia. Closer home, Kerala is a cherished destination,” he shares.

The marathon runner also looks forward to further training to improve timing and running a full marathon which Jain says should be on the cards December. When it comes to some down time, Jain is keen on getting away from it all and booking a week away. “Heading for naturopathy treatment for a week long, either at Palampur (HP) or Bangalore seems like a good fix,” he says.

When it comes to causal things that the boss has missed out on, Jain says he can’t wait to visit his favourite restaurants again. “Mirchi Mime in Mumbai is more than about food, the restaurant is always an inspiration - where there is a will, there is a way.” His daily cup of Starbucks coffee is also something he looks forward to. When it comes to shopping, La Rambla in Barcelona and

Fifth Avenue in New York are places he wants to get back to for work as well.

In the meantime, Jain has had to find new ways to tackle life. Apart from yoga and meditating to help boost his mood. An evening walk has also helped him stay calm. A good dose of entertainment in the form of books, shows and movies helps Jain too. “I always recommend Corporate Chankaya. Other inspiring books include Onwards - Howard Schultz, Unusual Billionaires - Saurabh Mukherjea and Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek,” he shares.
