Fans of Lupin will soon be able to return to the world of Assane Diop, the clever gentleman thief played by Omar Sy. The French thriller is returning with its fourth season very soon, with all of its eight episodes dropping online together. The new season will bring another mystery for Assane to solve, but this time, his own freedom and reputation are at stake.

Lupin Season 4 OTT release date and platform

Lupin Season 4 will be released on Netflix October 23, 2026 and this time, the viewers won't have to wait for weekly episodes.

The next season of the show will follow the story of Assane Diop, whose exploits are based on those of fictional French gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, created by writer Maurice Leblanc. The series combines the themes of elaborate heists, cons and mysteries, with Assane often using his gift for staying one step ahead of those trying to catch him.

What to expect from Lupin Season 4

The new season picks up with Assane still behind bars, four years after the events of the third season. Having put his criminal alter ego aside, he is focused on serving his sentence and keeping a promise to his son to visit their family in Senegal.

However, his plans take an unexpected turn when someone bearing the name ‘Lupin’ does simultaneous robberies at several museums. Despite increased security, the thefts are carried out successfully.

Assane denies involvement, but all the evidence seems to point towards him only. Surveillance footage even places him inside one of the museums during a robbery in which Captain Belkacem is seriously injured.

The mystery raises questions about who is using Assane’s name and whether someone is setting him up. The new season will also introduce a more formidable rival, adding another challenge for the main character.

Omar Sy promises a bigger season

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sy said the team wanted to raise the scale of the series, with more action, drama and production value this time.

“Thank you for saying that because it’s exactly what we wanted to propose,” the actor said in response to the publication describing the new season as resembling a movie blockbuster.

Explaining the direction of the story, Sy added, “How can we be bigger, add more production value, go further on the action, on the drama. Everything has to go deeper and deeper.”

He also hinted at a tougher opponent for Assane, saying, “There’s [also] a bigger bad guy. The rival is stronger, smarter.”

Alongside Sy, the returning cast includes Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard.

George Kay created the series with François Uzan, with contributions from Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer and Tigran Rosine. The fourth season's writers include Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Rosine and Meyer. Edouard Salier is among the directors, alongside Hugo Gélin and Everardo Gout.
