This Latin diplomat wants to visit Indian post offices

Luis Cabello, the economic & commercial counsellor of the Embassy of Peru in India may be new to the country, but he’s already got a list of places he wants to visit. One of them is a place where few have gone since the internet took over – the post office.

Cabello is an avid stamp collector, starting nearly 25 years ago. He tells ETPanache, “While clearing out an old bookshelf in the house, I happened to open an old stamp book, filled with stamps from various countries. Since that day, I always kept a look out for stamps and I must admit that my career up till this point has only aided in their collection.”

While he has never got down to counting how many he has, he does have many stamp books filled. “I have almost two complete albums with at least 400 Indian stamps. All of my stamps have a story. Just think about a Peruvian trying to explain to an Indian officer, who only speaks Hindi, that you want to buy a stamp,” Cabello says with a laugh.
