Longevity and biohacking entrepreneur Bryan Johnson has once again sparked conversation online after laying out a detailed set of lifestyle rules he claims are the result of years of experimentation and millions spent on health optimisation. The American entrepreneur, known for his intense focus on reversing biological age, shared what he described as a simple framework for staying healthier and younger for longer. Framed as advice for future generations, his list blends sleep discipline, nutrition control, movement, and daily habits meant to support long-term wellbeing.

Bryan Johnson, an American biohacker and entrepreneur, took to social media to present what he called the outcome of everything he has learned through his longevity experiments. He introduced the note as a message from “your immortal uncle and auntie” to the next generation, saying it captures the key principles he believes can support a longer, healthier life.

Sleep

Sleep sits at the centre of his approach. He describes it as the most powerful factor for health and recovery, stressing the importance of spending at least eight hours in bed and maintaining a consistent bedtime every night, ideally before midnight. He also recommends avoiding food close to bedtime, keeping dinner light and calm, and cutting screen exposure at least an hour before sleep. A cool, quiet environment and a fixed routine, he suggests, help the body regulate itself better.

Food and daily habits

From there, the focus shifts heavily to food and daily habits. Johnson advises reducing added sugar, avoiding fried and ultra-processed foods, and being more mindful of hidden sugars in everyday diets. His preference leans strongly toward whole foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and berries. He also suggests simple behavioural changes such as walking after meals, staying physically active, lifting weights, stretching daily, and keeping the body in motion instead of prolonged sitting.

Environmental and lifestyle factors

He also touches on environmental and lifestyle factors that often go unnoticed. This includes drinking enough water, getting sunlight early in the day, protecting the skin during peak sun hours, and improving air circulation indoors. He also recommends reducing exposure to plastic where possible, limiting noise pollution, and maintaining good dental hygiene with flossing, brushing, and tongue cleaning as part of a consistent routine.

Social and mental habits

Social and mental habits also feature in his list. Johnson encourages regular connection with friends, managing stress through breathing techniques, and building routines that help calm the nervous system. He also advises cutting down social media usage, turning off unnecessary notifications, and avoiding habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Even coffee intake, he suggests, should be limited to earlier in the day to avoid disrupting sleep cycles.

A significant part of his advice revolves around discipline and structure. He believes the human body functions best when routines are consistent, whether it’s sleep, meals, or activity levels. He also encourages occasional health check-ups, blood testing, and being cautious with long-distance travel when avoidable.

He ends his message by emphasising gradual change rather than overwhelming transformation, suggesting that small steps taken consistently matter more than trying to do everything at once. In his view, simplifying life and focusing only on what truly works can make the biggest difference in long-term health.
