Malayalam's blockbuster superhero film Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra is running successfully in theatres. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film is rewriting box office history. Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan under Wayfarer Films, the movie has now become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. It has not only surpassed Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan in global collections but has also become one of the most successful Indian films led by a female star. In response to the buzz that Lokah would soon be available on streaming platforms, Dulquer took to social media to clear the air. He wrote, “Lokah isn’t coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements!” His post came after several reports claimed the movie’s digital release date had been finalised. For now, the film remains a theatrical experience, and fans will have to wait a bit longer to catch it on OTT.



The movie stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the role of Chandra, a mysterious woman who lands in Bengaluru and finds herself drawn into the dark world of organ trafficking. Naslen plays the male lead, while the film’s supporting cast features Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salimkumar. The storyline brings elements of mythology, fantasy, and modern-day crime together to build a unique superhero universe never before seen in Malayalam cinema.

According to early estimates by box office tracker Sacnilk.com, the film earned over Rs 54.7 crore in its first week, followed by Rs 47 crore in the second week and Rs 27.2 crore in the third week. Kalyani Priyadarshan's movie finally hit the Rs 140 mark in India and is showing no signs of slowing down amid new releases.

The biggest milestone for the film is its success across the country and abroad. The Kalyani-starrer has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in both Kerala and international markets. In addition to that, the woman-led superhero film has also collected Rs 50 crore from the rest of India, making it a true pan-Indian hit.
