Lockdown reading: 'Sapiens' left a lasting impression on Krishna Kumar Karwa

The Emkay Global Financial Services MD has learnings from the book to apply to life.

Krishna Kumar Karwa, Managing Director, Emkay Global Financial Services loves reading and the lockdown gave him a chance to catch up on that.

He told ET Panache, "One of the books I read during the lockdown and which left a lasting impression on me was 'Sapiens - A Brief History of Humankind' written by Yuval Noah Harari. The evolution of languages, cognitive thinking, cooperation, gossip, religion, money, spread of empires, trade and capitalism was an interesting insight. Despite all our evolution we are a function of our evolution over millions of years."

The book gave Karwa an insight that he plans to apply to life as well. "There is a history behind everything and everyone. Once you are aware of that then many questions and observations are self explained," he shared.

In a traumatic phase like the current pandemic where everyone is so fearful of survival today and how life will be henceforth, meditation brings its own sense of balance and calmness to navigate the current uncertainty and possibly visualize the future for Karwa.

"It removes the overwhelming negativity currently prevalent. A fit mind in a fit body, meditation and yoga go together. They keep body and soul together," he said.
