Faisal Husain says music is close to his heart.
In a chat with ET Panache Faisal Husain, Co-founder & CEO, Synechron, tells us how he can’t wait to watch a movie on the big screen and how Oman is on his bucketlist:

Movie night:
Once the restrictions ease, I am really looking forward to return to the cinemas again. There is just something magical about watching movies on the big screen and experiencing the surround sound DolbyAtmos, which you don’t get to enjoy when watching on a small screen. Also, I am an outdoorsy person, and what I have missed dearly is going on long drives. Thankfully the restrictions on travel have eased allowing me drive away to offbeat locations on my 4x4 Jeeps.

Down time:
I love holidaying where I can drive long distances and explore remote locations or places with heritage and history. I’m looking forward to driving from Dubai to Oman and exploring the whole country’s topography - from the deserts to the rugged mountains, and from the pristine beaches to the tropical south. Oman has been high on my bucket list for a while.

Dine out:
Luckily the restaurants are now open, but there was a time we had to be very careful while venturing out. I do enjoy cuisines such as Mediterranean, and Indian street food, which are served at some really good places in Dubai like Puranmal or Efes Grill in New Brunswick, U.S. Even today, when we step out to enjoy eating outside, we are still very cautious about the hygiene that the restaurant practices.

Shopping spree:
I’m a huge fan of the brand, J.Crew from the U.S. However, owing to travel restrictions neither have I been able to travel there nor pick up anything new from their wardrobe. Ethnics from Fab India and Nicobar are also a personal favourite, which again I have not been able to buy any. I am not very comfortable with digital shopping methods, as I like to enjoy the experience, of feeling the fabric and admiring the craftsmanship of a tailored creation.

Tech update:
I have now transitioned to using digital watches - Samsung and Huawei -for their fitness tracking ability. Another plus with these watches, is that they allow me to get away from my phone, but still alert me to any messages that I may receive on it.

Strumming it:
I’ve been able to focus on some of my existing hobbies more, thanks to the lockdown! Music being close to my heart I have been able to practice playing my guitar. I also polished my photography skills and am enjoying viewing the new ways of the world through my camera lens.

“I have fine-tuned my baking skills. Although my wife Benaisha and I aren’t vegan, the rest of the house is. So, during the lockdown, vegan baking took centrestage. Benaisha makes the best chocolate mousse cake. It’s made with dates, almond flour and coconut milk — it’s a huge hit. I find baking therapeutic. It’s a precise activity where the outcome is as perfect as the work that goes into it. If you follow the instructions, the end result is good. I love that.”
