Snake found in train
Recently, passengers aboard the Vasco-da-Gama Weekly Express, traveling from Jharkhand to Goa, were startled to discover a live snake in an AC 2-tier coach. Videos shared on social media captured the snake slithering near the curtains of the lower berth, prompting immediate concern among those on board. Ankita Kumar Sinha, a passenger whose parents were on the train, posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) and tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

"A snake was found on the berth of train number 17322 (Jasidih to Vasco Da Gama)," he wrote, urging quick action due to the serious nature of the situation. "Please take immediate action," he added, emphasizing the need for a prompt response.

Quick Response from Railway Staff

In the videos, a staff member from IRCTC can be seen working alongside a fellow passenger to safely capture the snake using a bedsheet. However, it remains unclear what ultimately happened to the reptile, as voices in the background suggested it should be disposed of from the train.

Following the incident, the Railways responded swiftly. The Ranchi division of Indian Railways acknowledged Sinha's complaint and assured him that the issue had been escalated to the appropriate authorities for resolution. "Your complaint has been acknowledged, and the appropriate authority has been informed," they stated.

Earlier Snake Sightings

This alarming event is not an isolated case. Last month, passengers on the Garib Rath Express, traveling from Jabalpur to Mumbai, faced a similar scare when a snake was found coiled around the bar of an upper berth. Passengers reacted in panic, forcing some to leave their seats in haste. The affected coach was detached and sent back to Jabalpur after all passengers were relocated.

Snakes are typically associated with wilderness, yet their recent appearances in urban settings—including homes, offices, and now trains—have sparked significant public concern. Videos of such encounters have gained traction online, further highlighting the issue.

The Indian Railways is now under scrutiny to ensure better safety measures and wildlife management within their trains, as incidents like these continue to unsettle passengers across the country.
