The famous 1994 comedy film The Little Rascals’ child actor Brandon “Bug” Hall, who played the role of Alfalfa has launched a public fundraiser a month before he is about to welcome his sixth child. The former actor has a GoFundMe campaign, described to cover outstanding household expenses and complete work on his family's new property in rural Arkansas.

The 41-year-old actor initiated his fundraising effort on November 5, initially aiming for $2,000. However, by November 8, the campaign had raised over $19,000 out of around 300 donations.

Why Bug Hall launched a GoFundMe campaign

Explaining his decision to seek donations, Hall wrote that he had avoided creating a fundraiser for six years after choosing to leave his acting career behind. “I always said this was my choice, and so I didn't want to offload the glorious burden of it unless there was no other choice. Well here we are,” he explained in the campaign description.

According to Hall, his family had just relocated to their new farm but they were short of certain supplies that would help in fully setting up the land. The man also indicated that he was behind on payments for a couple of bills at home. These included “phone, propane for the camper, and an unexpected electric hookup service fee,” according to his campaign.

“Baby six is less than a month away, and I really need some help getting the last few things buttoned up beforehand,” he wrote. He added that he hoped to finish the remaining work within two weeks so he could take up employment before the baby arrived.

From Hollywood child star to off-grid living

Hall's financial appeal comes months after reports about his decision to abandon Hollywood and embrace a self-described “vow of poverty”. In an interview with the Daily Mail published in January 2026, he said he had given away much of his savings and possessions as part of his religious transformation.

He and his wife Jill, whom he married in 2017, have five children together, including four daughters and a son. The family relocated to an 80-acre property near Mountain View, Arkansas, with plans to build a largely self-sufficient home.

Hall became widely recognised for portraying Alfalfa Switzer in The Little Rascals. His other acting credits include The Big Green, The Stupids, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves and television appearances in Charmed and CSI: Miami.
