#ICYMI: Here's why Shin Shin is making headlines
WELL, THAT'S CUTE AS A BUTTON.
Couldn't disagree.

HAS THIS GIANT PANDA BEEN GIVEN A FANCY TITLE OR SOMETHING?
Nah, something more routine. Eleven-year-old Shin Shin (that's her name) gave birth to a cub in Ueno Zoo in Tokyo earlier this week.

OK, BUT WHY IS THIS NEWS?
This is the first baby panda in the zoo in five years and that is good news for many.

HOW SO?
A new panda means more tourists and that's why shares of companies that own restaurants near the zoo have shot up.

WHAT, REALLY?
Yes, shares of Totenko, which runs a Chinese restaurant, and Seiyoken, a French eatery, rose 38% and 11%, respectively.

WOW!
Their stocks also saw a spike in February, when the zoo announced Shin Shin and Ri Ri, her partner, were mating. The pandas had come from China just before the tsunami and earthquake in 2011.

THIS IS THE LAST THING I EXPECTED WHEN YOU STARTED TELLING ME ABOUT SHIN SHIN.
